Dem Boys Pt. 4

The show is Sunday and the rate I am going this will be the last post till then. I frickin' love the Gourds. They have a great laid back vibe. There lyrics are very creative and enjoyable. They can rock it out and slow it down. You think they are just a rowdy sloppy bar band from Texas and then you really listen and they are totally in control and professional. They have two strong personalities as song writers. All these mixes come together in a ying yang; sweet and sour thing and it is just fantastic.

"Lows and Highs"...who would have thought that a fuzzy guitar, an accordion and a mando could be such good friends?

Caught these guys on Sunday for the second time. The first time in Naw-hamp-in where the crowd was forced to remain in the seated position. Excellent, but relatively tame show. The second time I saw them, we evolved into the upright position. The energy was amazing and it took 2 days for the humming in my left ear to quit, just about the time the smile on my face subsided.

Nice work on the blog dude. I really dig your style man.
By the way, I freakin love the gourds too!! they are amazing. Caught the show at the World Cafe Live in philly last week and it was one of the best ive seen.. all are great musicians. the tandem of lyrical genius-ness of kevin russell and jimmy smith is incompareable. max is a master of all trades and claude's accordian and piano playin kick ass. Keith is no slouch on the drums either. but what i really like about them and thier live shows is that they "bring it" to every gig. the energy that results from their musicianship and on stage banter is awesome. Much love. I will never miss a local show as long as i am physically able to walk.
